Betty Jane (Pinnell) Worley

Betty Jane Worley, nee Pinnell, of Steelville, MO, was born on Thursday, July 28, 1927 in Scotia, MO to William “Floyd” Pinnell and Laura Evanna Pinnell, nee Walker.  She passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Steelville Senior Living at the age of 96 years, 7 months and 5 days.

Betty graduated from Steelville High School in the Class of 1945.  She married the love of her life, Bill Worley, on November 1, 1952.  She worked as a secretary for Sears and later worked at Hutson Department Store until she retired.  Betty had accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, was a member of Center Point Baptist Church and was active in the WMU Ladies Group.  She enjoyed fishing and camping with her husband, Bill.  Betty enjoyed cooking and was known for her homemade chicken and dumplings, green beans and chocolate pie.  She was very fond of her dogs throughout her life, Curley Worley, Rosco and Eli.  Most of all, Betty loved her family and spending time with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Worley; parents Floyd and Laura Pinnell; parents-in-law Morris and Esther Worley; siblings: infant sister Hester Jean Pinnell, Eva Mae Pinnell, Anna (Lindell) Hinch, William “Leroy” Pinnell and Ralph (Catherine) Pinnell; brothers-in-law Willard Worley and Willis Worley; sister-in-law Erma (Doc) Wisdom and grandson Matthew Worley.

Betty is survived by her step-children Dennis (Sandi) Worley of Austin, TX and Katherine (Jim) Voss of Washington, MO; grandchildren Deneen (Jon) Wellick of Madison, WI, Jim (Greta) Voss of St. Louis, MO, Mark (Rose) Voss and Kurt (Brenda) Voss both of Washington, MO, Michael Worley of San Antonio, TX, Marcia Worley Gazutis and Maranda (Charles) Wilson both of Denver, CO; great grandchildren Ty (Joe) Griffin of Ann Arbor, MI, Corey Wellik of Detroit, MI, Luke (Amanda) Voss of Chicago, IL, Lauren Voss of Nashville, TN, Grayson Senn and Anagayle Senn both of St. Louis, MO, Kaitlin (Brett) Osbern of Baldwin City, KS, Nathan Voss of Kansas City, KS, Natalie Voss and Zachary Voss both of Washington, MO, Brooke Voss of Kansas City, MO and Kara Voss of Washington, MO; great granddaughters Chloe Wilson and Olivia Gazutis; great great granddaugther Kaia Griffin; sisters-in-law Gloria Worley of Cuba, MO and Catherine “Kaky” Pinnell of Steelville, MO; special niece Diane Pinnell of Cuba, MO; special nephew Gary Hinch of Rolla, MO; special cousin Wayne Blunt of Steelville, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Visitation was from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service immediately followed at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating.  Burial was at Liberty Cemetery in Steelville, MO.  Memorials were suggested to Center Point Baptist Church.
