Barry "BR" Ray White

Barry Ray "BR" White, of Steelville, MO, was born on Friday, August 7, 1953 in St. Louis, MO to Lawrence Thomas White and Bertha Mae White, nee Thompson.  He passed away at his home on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 10 days.

Barry attended school in Edgar Springs and Steelville.  As a boy, Barry went to Elayer church. He married the love of his life, Lavonda "Mert" Lou Eaton, on March 13, 1971 at her parents' home in Steelville, MO by Rev. Delmar Hutson and to this union two children were born.  Barry worked as a logger with his own company until he was injured and then began his own trucking company, "Barry White Trucking, LLC," hauling ties, lumber and slabs with his son, Jason White.  He was a member of the Steelville Country Club and enjoyed hanging with the guys at Counts Tire Shop.  In his younger days he could be found drag racing against his friends.  Barry enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool.  Most of all, Barry loved his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Bertha White; parents-in-law James "Bascom" Eaton and Hazel (Bob) Huff; siblings Theresa (Jack) Medlock and Richard White; brothers-in-law Robert "Bob" Eaton, Jim "Roscoe" (Judy) Eaton and James "Red" (Pauline) Eaton; sister-in-law Deloris "Dodie" (Jim) Harmon.

Barry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lavonda "Mert" White of Steelville, MO; children Jason (Heather) White and Stephanie (Dennis) Callahan both of Steelville, MO; siblings Lawrence "Butch" (Shirley) White, Donna (Rick) Philips and Debbie Jennings all of Salem, MO; sister-in-law Tonya White of Salem, MO; grandson Gabriel White of Steelville, MO; step-grandchildren Ashley Bean, Logan Bean and Paige Bean all of Steelville, MO and Kyle (Anna) Bean of Groton, CT; great grandson Cayson White; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation is from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO.  Funeral Service is at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO with Rev. Larry Martin officiating.  The Service will be live-streamed on Hutson Funeral Home in Steelville, MO's Facebook Page beginning at 10:55 AM.  Burial will be at Steelville Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Golden Echos.

Pallbearers are: Gabriel White, Logan Bean, Dennis Callahan, Todd Martin, Sonny Martin and Billy Parsons.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Butch White, Josh Counts, JD Evans, Joe Ambrose & John.
